Usually, in the morning slot, we keep the curtains open at home. This summer being very harsh, we started closing the curtains as the sun started coming up to prevent harsh sunlight coming in. The other day, saw this beautiful sight of the leaves of bamboo plant in the balcony casting its shadows on the white curtain. Of course, it was an irresistible shot that had to be taken. While the middle white curtains had the shadow of the bamboo leaves imprinted on them, the darker curtains on both sides had a beautiful glow due to strong backlight.

We barely made it in time to Darjeeling railway station to board this narrow gauge train to New Jalpaiguri. The brief halt at Ghum allowed us to pick up something to eat and have chai. The momos and chai at Ghum railway station of Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR), were delivered with an unexpected bonus. This little girl, who was the granddaughter of the lady running the tea stall, turned out to be a very expressive kid. I really enjoyed my time at this tea stall playing with this little girl. Noticed this aircraft flying along in the skies above the mountain ranges somewhere in Japan as we were on a flight to Miyazaki from Tokyo.

Never realised till we reached Bhimbetka that the railway line next to our hotel was a very busy line with more than 150 trains passing daily. This line carries the trains between Mumbai and Delhi on the West Central Railway route. It was obvious that I would spend significant time on the tracks watching all kinds of trains pass by. When you see closely the entire process involved in running and maintaining steam locomotives, you cannot help but get involved in it. Each step is part of a ritual which the technicians and engine drivers perform with the same rigour and meticulousness with which a priest would go about performing a pooja. The degree of involvement may be actually higher. This X class steam locomotive is enjoying its water stop at Hillgrove on Nilgiri Mountain Railway. (Hillgrove, 2007)

The serenity of the twilight colours at Radnor Lake State Park, Nashville was profound. We were fortunate to be at this lake and witness the rapidly changing colours over a short period. The visuals were stunning and it was difficult to distinguish between the sky and the lake.
