Bright colours of summer
The only redeeming aspect of this terrible summer seems to be the vibrant colours that the trees around present. The four pictures that I am going to present here represent different times of the day and different locations. The only common factor is the vibrant colour.
Gulmohor (flame tree)
This is what I see in the morning light from our home balcony as I go out to water the plants and feed the birds who are waiting.
The brilliant red and orange of the Gulmohor tree below dominates the frame and everything else fades. All the green foliage plays a supporting role so that the red and the orange get accentuated.
Bahawa (golden shower)
There is a further treat to the eyes as I start working from my office desk. Right in front of me is this lovely yellow Bahawa with all its beauty to make my day.
Evening walk in the university campus
Walks in the university campus have always been pleasant. They are more so these days when the summer heat is not so tormenting during evening hours.
Pune university campus is unique in the sense that each season throws up a different aspect of is character, another facet which is peculiar to that season. The summer heat makes the vegetation dry and brown, but then the pink bougainvillea shines bright on the depressing brown background.
This Bahawa tree painted bright yellow even in the fading evening light outside the building of Department of Botany. It provided a warm welcome to the otherwise old stone edifice of the department building.
